I'm working as a lecturer in Istanbul, and one thing that really bothers me is the fake marketing by schools and colleges here. It's heartbreaking to see students posing happily in social media ads when, in reality, they're miserable because of the poor management. These students, and those who watch these ads on Facebook or Instagram, all know the truth—that these ads are completely fake. They promise quality education, sports facilities, and various programs, none of which are actually provided due to a lack of qualified teachers and proper resources.

Management continues to push these false narratives, pretending to offer great opportunities when they don't. These ads not only mislead the public but also teach students to lie, as they see dishonesty rewarded. It's shameful how these educational institutions have turned into mere businesses.

Shame on the management of these schools and colleges.

I recently came back from a work trip in Türkiye, only to face a new hassle at home in Pakistan. My National Identity Card (CNIC) had expired last year, so I needed to renew it. I was thrilled to find out that now you can renew it online and get it delivered to your doorstep. Or so I thought.

NADRA, the government body responsible for issuing CNICs, chose to deliver my renewed card through TCS, a private delivery company. This is where the trouble began. It's been over a week, and TCS still hasn't delivered my card. This isn't the first time TCS has delayed deliveries. They often do this so that people are forced to visit their office and pick up their parcels themselves.

What's the point of offering a doorstep delivery service, NADRA, if it doesn't work? It's baffling why NADRA chose a private company like TCS instead of using the Pakistan Postal Service, which is a reliable national service. The Pakistan Postal Service delivers directly to your door without any issues.

This situation highlights a bigger problem in our country. Our government is filled with people who are either corrupt or just plain stupid. These officials make decisions that harm Pakistan's economy and structure. This mess with NADRA and TCS is just one example of their incompetence.

I'm amazed and disappointed. NADRA is supposed to be a trustworthy government body, but their decision to use TCS shows a lack of common sense. They should have used the Pakistan Postal Service, which has a good track record. Instead, they've chosen a company that can't do its job properly.

Pakistan is suffering because of these poor decisions made by people in power. Our government agencies are run by individuals who don't seem to care about doing their jobs well. This incompetence is damaging our country, and it's a shame!!!

This experience has been incredibly frustrating. NADRA, you need to do better. If our government bodies can't make smart choices, how can we expect our country to progress? It's high time we demand better from those who are supposed to serve us.

NADRA and TCS: A Tale of Frustration

In the fast-paced world of technology, our smartphones have become indispensable companions, accompanying us through every aspect of our lives. From managing schedules to staying connected with loved ones, these devices play a crucial role. However, like any other electronic device, smartphones require regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance and longevity.

One simple yet often overlooked practice that can significantly benefit your smartphone is restarting it once a day. While it may seem unnecessary or inconvenient, this routine maintenance task can actually help preserve your device's battery life and ensure the smooth operation of apps.

Imagine your smartphone's battery as a muscle that needs regular exercise to stay healthy. Just like physical activity keeps our bodies in shape, restarting your smartphone helps recalibrate its software, preventing unnecessary drain on the battery. Throughout the day, various apps and processes run in the background, consuming precious battery life. By restarting your device, you effectively close these background processes, giving your battery a chance to rest and recharge. Over time, this simple habit can contribute to preserving your battery's capacity and extending its lifespan.

Have you ever noticed that your apps sometimes become sluggish or unresponsive? This could be due to accumulated cache, temporary files, or software glitches. Restarting your smartphone clears out these digital cobwebs, providing a fresh start for your apps to operate smoothly. Think of it as giving your smartphone a mini-spa day. Just as we feel rejuvenated after a good night's sleep or a refreshing shower, your apps benefit from a clean slate provided by a daily restart. This practice can help prevent crashes, freeze-ups, and other performance issues, ensuring a seamless user experience.

Examples of Benefits:

1. Improved Performance: After restarting your smartphone, you may notice that apps open faster, transitions are smoother, and overall performance is snappier.

2. Extended Battery Life: Users who adopt the habit of daily restarts often report longer battery life, especially on older devices that may be plagued by battery drain issues.

3. Reduced App Crashes: By clearing out temporary files and resetting app processes, restarting your smartphone can help mitigate the risk of app crashes and system instability.

In conclusion, incorporating a daily restart into your smartphone routine is a small yet effective way to keep your device in peak condition. Just as we take care of our physical health through regular exercise and rest, our smartphones also benefit from periodic maintenance. So, why not give your device the TLC it deserves? Your battery and apps will thank you for it!

Remember, a healthy smartphone leads to a happier and more productive digital life. So, don't forget to hit that restart button and enjoy the benefits of a well-maintained device!

Work-Life Balance
Achieving a healthy work-life balance has become increasingly important in recent years. With the rise of remote work and the always-on culture, it can be challenging to set boundaries and find time for personal life. Here are some tips to help you achieve a healthier work-life balance:
Set Boundaries: It's essential to set clear boundaries between work and personal life. Communicate your availability to colleagues and avoid checking emails or answering work calls during non-work hours.
For example, in 2020, Volkswagen implemented a policy that blocks emails to employees' smartphones 30 minutes after the end of their shift and doesn't resume until 30 minutes before the next workday.
Prioritize Self-Care: Self-care is crucial for maintaining physical and mental health. Make time for activities that bring you joy, such as exercise, hobbies, or spending time with loved ones.

In Japan, many companies encourage employees to take naps during work hours to boost productivity and reduce stress.
Manage Time Effectively: Time management is key to achieving a healthy work-life balance. Prioritize tasks, set achievable goals, and avoid multitasking to improve productivity.

For example, Google allows employees to dedicate up to 20% of their workweek to pursue passion projects, which can help with time management and work satisfaction.
Learn to Say No: It's essential to learn to say no to requests that don't align with your priorities or workload. Saying yes to everything can lead to burnout and overwhelm.

In 2021, Apple announced that employees could take up to two weeks of paid time off to volunteer for a cause of their choice, helping them prioritize their interests and passions.
Create a Routine: Establishing a routine can help you structure your day and improve time management. Schedule regular breaks and set aside time for both work and personal activities.

For example, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is known for having a consistent morning routine, which includes waking up early, exercising, and eating a healthy breakfast.
Set Realistic Goals: Setting realistic goals can help you stay focused and motivated. Break down larger tasks into smaller, more manageable ones and celebrate each milestone you achieve.

For instance, when Elon Musk started SpaceX, he set a goal to launch a rocket into orbit within five years. Despite numerous setbacks, SpaceX achieved this goal in 2008.
Unplug Regularly: Taking breaks from technology can help reduce stress and improve mental health. Consider taking a digital detox for a few hours or even a full day to disconnect from work and social media.

For example, the city of Paris implemented a "right to disconnect" law in 2017, which requires companies to establish clear rules around work hours and communication outside of work hours.
Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness can help reduce stress and increase focus. Consider incorporating mindfulness practices such as meditation, deep breathing, or yoga into your daily routine.

For instance, Goldman Sachs offers mindfulness training to its employees to help them manage stress and improve well-being.
Delegate Tasks: Delegating tasks to others can help reduce your workload and free up time for personal activities. Consider assigning tasks to colleagues or outsourcing tasks to freelancers.

For example, Apple co-founder Steve Jobs famously delegated tasks to other executives to free up his time and focus on product development.
Seek Support: Finally, it's important to seek support from friends, family, or colleagues when needed. Don't hesitate to ask for help or advice if you're feeling overwhelmed or stressed.

For instance, Microsoft offers an employee assistance program that provides confidential counseling and support services to employees and their families.

By implementing these tips into your daily routine, you can achieve a healthy work-life balance and improve your overall well-being. Remember that work-life balance is a journey, not a destination, and it takes effort to maintain.

In our fast-paced world, it can be easy to fall into the trap of saying "yes" to every request that comes our way. We often feel pressure to be agreeable and accommodating, and fear that saying "no" will make us seem unhelpful or even rude. However, the truth is that saying "no" can be a powerful tool for preserving our time, energy, and mental well-being.

There are many situations in which saying "no" is not only acceptable but essential. For example, if you are feeling overwhelmed by your workload, it may be necessary to decline a new project or request in order to avoid burnout. If you have a social obligation that you truly cannot attend, it is better to be honest and decline the invitation rather than trying to force yourself to go and feeling miserable. And if someone asks you to do something that goes against your values or beliefs, it is important to have the courage to say "no" and stand up for yourself.
The Power of Saying No
One of the most famous Latin proverbs about the power of saying "no" is "noli timere" or "do not be afraid." This simple phrase reminds us that saying "no" can be scary, but that it is often necessary in order to protect ourselves and our priorities. Another popular Latin saying is "festina lente," which means "make haste slowly." This proverb encourages us to take our time and carefully consider our decisions, rather than rushing into things and regretting our choices later.

Real-life examples of the power of saying "no" can be found in many different fields. In business, for example, Steve Jobs famously said "I'm as proud of what we don't do as I am of what we do." By focusing on a few key products and innovations rather than trying to do everything, Jobs was able to create a company that changed the world. In politics, Nelson Mandela's refusal to compromise his principles and his willingness to say "no" to injustice helped him to become one of the most respected leaders in history. And in personal relationships, setting boundaries and saying "no" to toxic or draining people can be the key to maintaining healthy relationships and a strong sense of self.

In conclusion, saying "no" can be difficult, but it is a skill that is essential for preserving our time, energy, and mental well-being. By learning to say "no" when necessary, we can create space in our lives for the things that truly matter, and avoid getting overwhelmed or burnt out. Remember, sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is simply say "no."

Plant-based diets are becoming increasingly popular due to their numerous health benefits, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare concerns. A plant-based diet is a way of eating that focuses on whole, minimally processed plant foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds while limiting or avoiding animal products.

There are many benefits to a plant-based diet. One of the most significant benefits is improved health. Plant-based diets have been associated with lower risks of chronic diseases such as heart disease, diabetes, and certain cancers. For example, a study conducted by Harvard researchers found that people who ate a plant-based diet had a 25% lower risk of heart disease than those who ate a meat-based diet.

Plant-Based Diets: Benefits and Challenges

In addition to the health benefits, plant-based diets are also good for the environment. Animal agriculture is a significant contributor to greenhouse gas emissions, deforestation, and water pollution. By eating more plant-based foods and fewer animal products, we can help reduce our carbon footprint and preserve our planet's natural resources.

However, adopting a plant-based diet can be challenging, especially for those used to eating a meat-heavy diet. One of the biggest challenges is getting enough protein. While it's true that plant-based sources of protein are generally lower in protein than animal sources, there are still plenty of options available. For example, one cup of cooked lentils contains 18 grams of protein, which is comparable to a three-ounce serving of chicken.

Another challenge is the lack of convenience. It can be challenging to find plant-based options when eating out or when traveling. However, with the increasing popularity of plant-based diets, more restaurants and food companies are offering plant-based options.

Real-life examples of plant-based diets

Many celebrities and athletes have adopted plant-based diets and have seen significant health benefits. For example, former President Bill Clinton adopted a plant-based diet after experiencing heart problems. Since then, he has lost weight and improved his cholesterol levels.

Another example is the tennis player Novak Djokovic, who credits his plant-based diet for his success on the court. He has been following a plant-based diet since 2011 and has won numerous Grand Slam titles since then.

Plant-based diets have numerous benefits, including improved health, environmental sustainability, and animal welfare concerns. While there are some challenges to adopting a plant-based diet, such as getting enough protein and lack of convenience, there are still plenty of options available. By incorporating more plant-based foods into our diets, we can improve our health and the health of our planet.

Mindful living is a lifestyle approach that emphasizes living in the present moment, being fully engaged in activities, and cultivating a non-judgmental awareness of one's thoughts and feelings. Practicing mindful living has been shown to improve physical and mental health, reduce stress, and enhance overall well-being.

Mindful living is a lifestyle approach

Here are some simple steps to incorporate mindful living into your daily routine:

Practice Gratitude: Take time each day to reflect on what you're grateful for. This can be as simple as listing three things you're thankful for before going to bed each night. By focusing on what you have, rather than what you lack, you'll cultivate a more positive outlook on life.

Be Present: One of the key tenets of mindfulness is being present in the moment. Take a few minutes each day to focus on your breath and observe your surroundings without judgment. This can be as simple as taking a few deep breaths before beginning a task, or taking a short walk and noticing the sights and sounds around you.

Engage in Mindful Eating: Mindful eating involves paying attention to the experience of eating, savoring each bite, and tuning in to your body's hunger and fullness signals. This can help you make healthier food choices and avoid overeating.

Practice Mindful Communication: Mindful communication involves listening to others with an open mind, speaking honestly and respectfully, and being fully present in conversations. By practicing mindful communication, you'll build stronger relationships and avoid unnecessary conflict.

Engage in Mindful Movement: Mindful movement practices, such as yoga, tai chi, or walking meditation, can help you connect with your body, reduce stress, and increase physical flexibility and strength.

Disconnect from Technology: Technology can be a major source of distraction and stress. Take time each day to disconnect from your devices and engage in activities that don't involve screens, such as reading, spending time in nature, or practicing a hobby.

By incorporating these simple steps into your daily routine, you'll be on your way to living a more mindful and fulfilling life. Remember, the key to mindful living is to be present in the moment and approach each day with an open and non-judgmental attitude.

Sustainable living is becoming an increasingly important topic as people around the world recognize the need to protect our planet and preserve its resources for future generations. Simply put, sustainable living refers to a lifestyle that seeks to minimize harm to the environment and promote responsible use of natural resources. This can take many forms, from reducing energy consumption and waste to supporting local agriculture and making more environmentally conscious consumer choices.
way to promote sustainable living
One of the most important aspects of sustainable living is reducing our carbon footprint. This can be done in a number of ways, such as driving less, using public transportation, or carpooling. Additionally, making small changes in the home, such as switching to energy-efficient light bulbs or turning off appliances when not in use, can make a big difference in reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions.
Another key aspect of sustainable living is reducing waste. This can be done by using reusable bags and containers, composting food scraps, and buying products with minimal packaging. Many people are also choosing to reduce their reliance on single-use plastics, such as straws and water bottles, which can take hundreds of years to decompose in landfills.

Supporting local agriculture is another way to promote sustainable living. By buying locally-grown produce and supporting farmers in your area, you can reduce the carbon footprint of food transportation and support a more sustainable food system. Additionally, choosing to eat less meat and more plant-based foods can have a significant impact on reducing greenhouse gas emissions associated with the meat industry.

Finally, making more environmentally conscious consumer choices can also contribute to sustainable living. This includes buying products made from sustainable materials, such as bamboo or recycled plastic, and choosing to buy from companies with strong environmental commitments. Additionally, choosing to buy second-hand items or participating in clothing swaps can help reduce waste and promote a more circular economy.

There are many examples of individuals and communities who have embraced sustainable living and are making a real difference in reducing their impact on the environment. For example, the city of Copenhagen in Denmark has set a goal to be carbon-neutral by 2025, and has implemented a number of initiatives to reduce energy consumption and promote sustainable transportation. In the United States, the city of Seattle has implemented a ban on single-use plastics and has set a goal to become carbon-neutral by 2050.

Sustainable living is an essential component of protecting our planet and preserving its resources for future generations. By reducing our carbon footprint, reducing waste, supporting local agriculture, and making more environmentally conscious consumer choices, we can all contribute to a more sustainable future. While it may require some changes in our daily habits and lifestyle choices, the benefits to the planet and to our own well-being are well worth the effort.

As of now, there is no definitive evidence that life exists outside of Earth. However, the possibility of extraterrestrial life is an active area of research in the fields of astronomy and astrobiology. Scientists have identified several potential candidates for habitable worlds in our own solar system and beyond.

In our own solar system, Mars is considered to be one of the most promising candidates for the existence of extraterrestrial life. The planet has a similar structure and composition to Earth, and it has a history of liquid water on its surface. The presence of water is considered to be one of the most important requirements for the development of life, as it is necessary for the formation of the building blocks of life, such as amino acids. Scientists have discovered evidence of water on Mars in the form of ice caps and subsurface water, and in recent years, there have been several missions to the planet to search for signs of past or present life.
Europa By Abdullah Mahmood
Europa, a moon of Jupiter, is also considered to be a potential habitat for life. The moon is believed to have a subsurface ocean of liquid water beneath its icy surface, which could potentially contain life. The Galileo spacecraft, which orbited Jupiter from 1995 to 2003, discovered evidence of water vapor plumes on Europa, which has led scientists to believe that the subsurface ocean is in contact with the surface.

Another promising candidate for the existence of life is exoplanets, which are planets that orbit stars outside of our solar system. In recent years, scientists have discovered thousands of exoplanets, many of which are in the habitable zone of their host star, where conditions are considered to be suitable for the existence of liquid water on the surface.
Kepler-186f By Abdullah Mahmood
One of the most well-known exoplanets in the habitable zone is Kepler-186f. The planet was discovered by the Kepler spacecraft in 2014 and is located about 500 light-years from Earth. The planet is about the same size as Earth and is located in the habitable zone of its host star, which is smaller and cooler than our sun. This means that the planet could potentially have surface temperatures that are suitable for liquid water.

Another exoplanet that is considered to be a potential habitat for life is TRAPPIST-1e. The planet is located about 40 light-years from Earth and is a member of a system of seven exoplanets that orbit an ultra-cool dwarf star. The planet is located in the habitable zone of the star and is considered to be one of the most Earth-like exoplanets that have been discovered to date.
TRAPPIST-1e by Abdullah Mahmood

It is estimated that there may be billions of habitable worlds in our galaxy alone, but to date, only a small fraction of these have been studied in detail. The study of exoplanets and the search for extraterrestrial life is an active area of research in astronomy and astrobiology. Scientists are using a variety of techniques, such as the transit method and the radial velocity method, to detect and study exoplanets. They are also developing new technologies, such as space-based telescopes, to study exoplanets in more detail.

In summary, while there is currently no definitive evidence of the existence of life outside of Earth, scientists have identified several potential candidates for habitable worlds in our own solar system and beyond. The study of these worlds and the search for extraterrestrial life is an active area of research in astronomy and astrobiology, and as technology continues to advance, scientists are hopeful that they will be able to answer this question in the near future.

Being rich is generally considered to mean having a lot of money and material possessions. However, the specific definition of what constitutes being "rich" can vary widely depending on a person's circumstances and perspective.
Are you rich? -Abdullah Mahmood

For some people, being rich might mean having enough money to live comfortably and meet their basic needs without worrying about finances. For others, it might mean having a high net worth or a large amount of assets, such as real estate or investments. Some people might define being rich as having the ability to afford luxuries or experiences that are considered lavish or indulgent.

Ultimately, the definition of being rich is subjective and can depend on a person's goals, values, and lifestyle. Some people might define being rich as having a sense of financial security and freedom, while others might see it as having a high level of material wealth or social status.

It's important to note that being rich is not necessarily the same as being happy or fulfilled. Some people who have a lot of money and material possessions may still feel unhappy or unfulfilled, while others who have less may be content with their lives.

Once upon a time, there was a young woman named Sarah who was deeply in love with her partner, Umar. They had been together for several years and had a strong, loving relationship.
They learned that it was important to communicate their feelings

One day, Sarah became very angry with Umar. She couldn't quite put her finger on what had caused her anger, but she felt like Umar wasn't paying enough attention to her and that he was taking her for granted.

Sarah's anger grew and grew until she couldn't contain it anymore. She exploded, yelling and screaming at Umar, saying all kinds of hurtful things that she later regretted.

Umar was taken aback by Sarah's outburst and didn't know how to respond. He tried to calm her down and apologize, but Sarah was too upset to listen. She stormed out of the house, slamming the door behind her.

As she walked, Sarah's anger slowly began to dissipate. She realized that she had let her emotions get the best of her and that she had acted in a way that was hurtful to both herself and Umar. She knew that she needed to apologize and make amends.

Sarah returned home and found Umar waiting for her. She apologized for her behavior and explained that she had been feeling neglected and unappreciated. Umar listened and assured her that he loved her and that he would make an effort to be more attentive to her needs.

Sarah and Umar hugged and made up, and their love was stronger than ever. They learned that it was important to communicate their feelings and to handle conflicts in a healthy way, rather than letting anger and resentment build up.

Being friends with everyone can be challenging, as not everyone may want to be friends with you and that's okay. However, there are a few things you can do to increase the likelihood that people will want to be friends with you:
it's okay if not everyone wants to be friends with you.
Be kind and considerate: Treat others with respect and kindness, and try to see things from their perspective.
Show genuine interest in others: Ask questions and listen to their answers. People often appreciate it when others show a genuine interest in them.

Be a good listener: People often like to talk about themselves, so listen attentively and show that you care about what they have to say.

Be open to new experiences: Try new things and be open to meeting new people. This can help you form new friendships and broaden your horizons.

Be respectful of others' boundaries: Respect others' personal space and privacy, and don't push them to do things they don't want to do.

Remember that it's okay if not everyone wants to be friends with you. It's more important to focus on building meaningful, positive relationships with the people you do connect with.

Whether sex is necessary is a subjective question and depends on an individual's goals and values. Some people may consider sex to be an important part of a romantic or committed relationship, while others may not place as much importance on it. Some people may also choose to abstain from sex for personal, moral, or medical reasons. Ultimately, the decision about whether or not to engage in sex is a personal one and should be made based on what is best for the individual.
